Exploring Creative Photography

This course will begin on Monday 25th June, 2012, running in three six-week modules with a one week break between each.
This is an intermediate to advanced level programme. A working knowledge of basic photographic skills and techniques is required. Photocourse 1 provides an ideal introductory level course ahead of PC2.

We have broken the course into three modules:

  • The Landscape
  • The Documentary
  • The Portrait (including studio)

Course Overview

This part-time course, run from our studios in central Wellington, continues from Photocourse 1 and provides more challenging, in-depth creative workshops and assignments. We will look further into the major themes of photography and help you to build on your photographic seeing skills and enhance your creative use of camera and lighting techniques.

The aim of the course is for you to build a set of images suitable for a portfolio or small exhibition, edited down from any or all of the modules. This will be presented and reviewed in a wrap-up weekend workshop at the end of the course.

We have structured Photocourse 2 into three main creative modules:

  • The Landscape
  • The Documentary
  • The Portrait (including studio)

The listed dates are Monday evenings, 6pm to 8pm, and there will be additional, flexible workshop times, tba. Some of these will be on Saturdays.

Pricing is as follows:

  • Total fee for course: $1500.00 (or $1650.00 if paid in 3 installments)
  • A deposit of $250.00 is required to confirm your place
  • Course fee does not include any materials or processing costs for your photographic projects

You will need either a digital SLR or film SLR camera to do the course assignments.

The darkroom facilities will be available at a preferential rate during the course.
Beyond expected studio usage during The Portrait, the photographic studio will be available at a preferential hire rate until the end of the course for additional work you may want to do.
